As a college student, I often feel anxiety about my student loans. The tuition rates at state universities in Minnesota are some of the highest in the nation. Additionally, state funding for the University dropped from $709 million in 2008 to $591 million in 2010. This drop in state funding has caused an increase in tuition.
As a student at the University, high tuition rates just donâÄôt sit well with me. Although our new governor has said that state funding for higher education is a goal, he hasnâÄôt made it a priority. Since higher education is important to so many of us here at the University, I feel it is important to follow what our government officials are doing in regards to state funding for higher education so future students will not feel such an intense anxiety about student loans.
