Police are searching for a body after finding a green jacket in the Mississippi River. The jacket had keys and identification in it, according to police. The person’s identity has not been released.
Police responded after a driver saw the fall Thursday afternoon. Officers lined the riverbanks and and searched the water by boat.
Police also searched with binoculars from the bridge, and a helicopter later arrived on the scene to search from above.
A police officer on the scene said it may be hard to find the body quickly because of the river’s size and lack of clarity.
He estimated that the drop from the bridge to the river is about 100 feet.
