All candidates for governor and the state legislature need to answer some tough questions about possible funding for a new Vikings stadium.
How can there be any justification for public funding of a Vikings stadium while the Bush-Obama recession proceeds unabated and many Minnesota taxpayers really are hurting big time?
Why can’t the Vikings play in TCF Bank Stadium and maybe even buy it and tailor it to their own needs?
Isn’t zillionaire Zygi Wilf borrowing from the Pohlad playbook and trying his best to extort up to a billion dollars of our taxpayer money for a new stadium from which only he would profit?
How can a person who can afford a private plane to commute to and from Vikings events possibly need one cent of our taxpayer dollars for a stadium from which only he will profit?
No candidate wants to be pinned down, but when they say they would not take money from the general revenue fund for a stadium but would consider “other public options,” isn’t that code for a second stadium tax in Hennepin County? When will The Minnesota Daily and other media force this issue?
Why doesn’t the Daily do Minnesotans a big favor and report Wilf’s net worth or an approximation of thereof? That should tell us voters and our elected public officials all we need to know about Wilf’s purported need for public funding.
