A University of Minnesota student was the victim of an armed robbery in the Marcy-Holmes neighborhood Dec. 11, according to an email crime alert sent by University Police Chief Greg Hestness to faculty, staff and students.
While walking to class around 9:20 a.m. near the intersection of 14th Avenue Southeast and Sixth Street Southeast, a man approached the student, showed her a gun and demanded her valuables, the alert said. The suspect then took the victim’s backpack and fled.
The victim wasn’t injured, but she lost her wallet, iPhone and iPad in the incident. She didn’t report the crime until 9 p.m., according to the alert, so officers were unable to locate the suspect.
This is the 15th crime alert for 21 crimes University police have sent this semester.
