Jury selection began Monday in the sexual assault case against former Carlson School of Management undergraduate student adviser Candelario Zuniga.
The selection marked the start of Zuniga’s trial in Judge Regina Chu’s Hennepin County District courtroom.
Chu’s law clerk, Maggie Skelton, said the 30 potential jurors will return today for final selection.
The trial will start once a jury is chosen. Skelton said she expects a jury to be picked by the end of the day.
Zuniga, 56, was charged with two counts of criminal sexual conduct in July after an 8-year-old neighbor told her mother that Zuniga molested her.
The girl also told police that Zuniga had taken a nude photo of her and had shown her pornographic images of other children.
If convicted, Zuniga faces up to 30 years in prison and a $35,000 fine.
