The crimson-clad fielders stormed the diamond with a flourish. The team had never been beaten and didn’t intend to start now. During the first part of the game and on into the latter stages, however, things looked bleak. The players weren’t hitting, they weren’t fielding and they didn’t look particularly pretty in their uniforms. But on the brink of the unthinkable, they pulled it together in a big way. Their only concern turned to whether to have mercy on the other team. Today’s weather will be in the 60s, with scattered showers. It should be cooler and dry on Friday. “The other team better hope Thursday’s forecast comes true,” Elmo said, thinking about that night’s game.
