Video footage was discovered showing missing University of Minnesota student Jennifer Houle entering the Mississippi River from the 10th Avenue Bridge early Friday morning, police said Monday.
Authorities declined to say whether Houle jumped or fell off the bridge.
The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office is assisting Minneapolis police in a water recovery effort, according to a press release from the Minneapolis Police Department.
The business senior was last seen at the Blarney Pub and Grill early Friday morning. Her purse was discovered about three blocks from the pub on 4th Street Southeast.
Houle is a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. She is set to graduate from the Carlson School of Management in the spring.
Vice Provost for Student Affairs and Dean of Student Danita Brown Young encouraged students, faculty and staff to seek help as needed and said counseling services specifically for Carlson students and Pi Beta Phi sorority members are being offered.
“Our thoughts are with her family, friends, classmates, and sorority sisters,” Brown Young said in the statement.
