A University of Minnesota professor who pleaded guilty to domestic assault in April recently resigned, according to reporting by the Star Tribune.
Aaron Doering, a tenured professor of the College of Education and Human Development, resigned from the University last week, a University spokesperson told the Star Tribune. Doering was charged with domestic assault by strangulation in late December. According to a criminal complaint, Doering slapped and choked his fiancee while he was intoxicated.
Following the charges, Doering was placed on leave. The University declined to state whether he was paid on his leave, citing privacy laws.
Since his arrest, two women have come forward claiming that Doering physically abused them.
Doering then pleaded guilty to felony domestic assault by strangulation in April. He was sentenced to six months in the county workhouse and two years probation.
A climate change expert and prominent explorer, Doering taught courses related to online and mobile learning.
