Multiple shots were fired at a 19-year-old man Sunday morning near the corner of Delaware and Walnut streets southeast, following an argument at the Profile Event Center , University police said.

The intended victim, Yusuf Hussein Omar , was not injured. Omar is not a University student.

University police Lt. Chuck Miner said there are no suspects, and officers are still trying to piece together the events between the argument at the event center and the shooting.

“The victim exchanged some words with somebody there shortly before this all occurred,” Miner said.

Omar was on foot at about 2:30 a.m. when six shots were fired at him from inside a red car, according to University police.

“We’re not able to connect whether or not the person at this event center whom (Omar) exchanged words with was also in the car,” Miner said.

This is the second aggravated assault that has occurred on campus in 2008 , according to UMPD records.

UMPD will examine external surveillance footage from surrounding buildings to find suspects, Miner said.

Miner said the shooting is an isolated incident, and not part of an ongoing threat to the community.

He added that Omar has an “extensive” criminal history.

Omar could not be reached for comment.

Burglary at the Green Monkey

Minneapolis police believe a 20-year-old St. Paul man is responsible for breaking a window early Sunday morning at the Green Monkey Corporation near the corner of 15th and Como avenues southeast and stealing a cash register, according to the police report.

Police are unsure if merchandise was also stolen.

Minneapolis police arrested Daniel Seaberg shortly after the 4 a.m. burglary, based on a description given by witnesses. Seaberg was later identified in a lineup.

Minneapolis police spokesman Sgt. Jesse Garcia said Seaberg was not in possession of the register or any other stolen merchandise when he was apprehended.

Garcia said Seaberg was uncooperative during his arrest.

“He was not complying at all,” Garcia said. “(Officers) had to do pressure-point tactics on him.”

Seaberg is being held in Hennepin County jail.

Police have no reason to believe this burglary is related to another burglary at the Green Monkey that occurred in 2007
