Minnesota (9-8-1, 5-5-1) will face No. 21 Rutgers (11-2-5, 7-1-3) in the Big Ten quarterfinal on Sunday at noon. Rutgers hosts the match, which will be played in Piscataway, New Jersey.
The Big Ten quarterfinal is a rematch of the 2016 Big Ten Championship match. Minnesota defeated Rutgers 2-1 on Nov. 6, 2016 to capture its first Big Ten title since 1995.
Rutgers defeated Minnesota 2-1 in double overtime on Sept. 30. Minnesota is the No. 7 seed in the Big Ten tournament while Rutgers is the No. 2 seed. The winner of this match will play either No. 16 Penn State (13-5-0, 9-2-0) or Michigan (9-8-1, 5-5-1) in the Big Ten semifinal on Nov. 2 in Westfield, Indiana.
