It’s a decent turnout for Minnesota’s first home game of the season, as the Gophers prepare to take on No. 4 California to kick off the Diet Coke Classic. STARTING LINEUP. Granquist Cowles Gibbemeyer Schmidt Hartmann Luiz Tan In case you missed the OFFICIAL first match of the day… Earlier in the day, Notre Dame fell to No. 16 Cal Poly in four games, 20-25, 16-25, 25-19, 21-25. Cal Poly took advantage of its solid back row, out-digging the Fighting Irish 71-53, and held Notre Dame to a .134 hit percentage. Facing off against a well-balanced offensive unit in California, the Gophers will have to play extremely well defensively, and will have to continue their improvement in the serve-receive, as Mike Hebert said earlier in the week.
