The Minneapolis/St. Paul International Film Festival pushes into its second week today.
The festival celebrates its halfway point tonight with a screening of the Swedish documentary “Presence” at 7:30 p.m. at the Riverview Theater and a party to follow at Kyklos & The Lounge in Minneapolis.
The fest will show 150 films, so there are still many more to see. One notable bit of programming is a collection of films dubbed “Native American Voices.” There are still two features left in this program, “Dancing on the Moon” at 9:30 p.m. Monday and “Spirit of the Game” at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, both showing at the Oak Street Cinema. A handful of short films either about or made by American Indians will show 7 p.m. Monday at Macalester College and 7 p.m. April 17 at Augsburg College.
Another highlight in the festival’s second week will give “Lord of the Rings'” fans a chance to meet one of its makers. Barrie M. Osborne, co-producer of the blockbuster trilogy will deliver a presentation about special effects and all other things elfish and dwarfish 7:15 p.m. April 16 at the Riverview Theater.
The festival will end with a closing-night gala beginning with a screening of “Saved,” starring Macaulay Culkin and Mandy Moore. A party will follow at Sawatdee in Minneapolis.
