- Michigan State defeated Michigan at home 28-14 behind the strength of Kirk CousinsâÄô arm and a strong defensive effort.
Cousins threw for 120 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. The Michigan State defense, led by All-American defensive tackle Jerel Worthy, held Michigan to 14 points and Denard Robinson to 42 yards rushing. It was the WolverinesâÄô first loss of the year.
- No. 4 Wisconsin defeated Indiana 59-7.
Russell Wilson continued his Heisman-worthy campaign. He threw for 166 yards and a touchdown on 12-of-17 passing, and added a touchdown reception. WisconsinâÄôs offensive line continued to impress, which allowed the team to rush for 332 yards and lead the Badgers to their sixth straight win to start the year.
- Penn State held off a speedy Purdue team to win 23-18 at home.
The Nittany LionsâÄô defense proved strong yet again, holding Purdue to a completion rate of less than 50 percent. They have allowed only 10 points per game in Big Ten play this year.
- Ohio State traveled to Illinois to take on the previously undefeated Illini and came away with a 17-7 win.
The BuckeyesâÄô defense âÄî which has only one senior starter âÄî shut down IllinoisâÄô offense and forced two interceptions from Illini quarterback Nathan Scheelhaase.
- Iowa defeated Northwestern 41-31.
The HawkeyesâÄô offense was fueled by the legs of Marcus Coker, who ran for 125 yards and two touchdowns. Iowa gave up 495 yards of total offense to Northwestern but was able to secure the victory with two takeaways and good special teams play.
- The Gophers and Nebraska were both on bye this week âÄî they will battle Saturday at TCF Bank Stadium for MinnesotaâÄôs homecoming game.
