A University of Minnesota student was sexually assaulted in Marcy-Holmes early Monday morning, according to a crime alert from University of Minnesota Police Chief Greg Hestness.
The student was scraping snow off her car in a parking lot near the intersection of 13th Avenue Southeast and 8th Street Southeast when the suspect approached her from behind and sprayed a “chemical irritant” in her face, the alert said.
The man then forced her to the ground, sexually assaulted her and then fled through the alley. The victim was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center for treatment.
The suspect was caught on University surveillance video, the alert said. Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call the Minneapolis Police Tip Line at 612-692-8477.
