The University will hold three public forums with finalists for the assistant vice president for public safety position this week.
The vice president’s responsibilities include overseeing the University Police Department, emergency preparedness and the central security division. The administrator is the main contact for all on-campus safety issues.
University Police Chief George Aylward has held the position on an interim basis since February 2002. He is among three finalists for the permanent position.
The University will hold one forum, all at the McNamara alumni center, for each candidate.
Gregory Hestness, Minneapolis Police Department deputy chief, will appear at 12 p.m. on June 23; Aylward’s forum will be at 12 p.m. on June 24; and Sharon Lubinski, Minneapolis Police Department inspector and precinct commander, will be heard at 11:30 a.m. on June 25.
