A man attacked and injured a St. Anthony Main restaurant owner late Saturday night, according to Minneapolis police.

The man, who was disturbing the other customers on the patio at Vic’s Dining on Main Street Southeast, punched the owner, who confronted him, according to a police report.

The owner and restaurant employees pinned the attacker to the ground, according to Jeffrey Martin, a witness, and an employee threatened to choke the man to stop him from moving.

“Every once in a while he would flop like a fish,” Martin said.

As they wrestled him to the ground, the man bit the owner, according to the report.

“I saw at least four holes that punctured his skin,” Martin said.

Martin said the man was laughing throughout the ordeal, and the report said it was believed the man had caused issues earlier at a nearby festival.

Man attempts to jump off Washington Avenue Bridge

A man attempted to jump off the Washington Avenue Bridge on Saturday afternoon, according to University police.

The man, who was on the pedestrian level, was found by two University of Minnesota employees driving across the bridge. They approached the man, who said he had a lot of debt, according to David Peterson, one of the employees.

The man was on the far side of the railing, Peterson said, and was very upset.

The employees kept the man talking until police arrived and were able to convince him to come back over the railing to safety.

He was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center for evaluation, according to Minneapolis police.
