University of Minnesota Police Department officers responded to a report of a shooting on the 500 block of 12th Avenue SE at approximately 2:15 a.m. Sunday. 

UMPD officers located the body of a deceased man in a front yard with an apparent gunshot wound upon arrival. Another man arrived at the Hennepin County Medical Center with non-life threatening gunshot wounds from the same incident. 

“We are working closely with our investigators and our street officers to close the case,” Minneapolis Police Department Public Information Officer John Elder said.

Elder said it is believed the incident occurred during a gathering at the residence. The victims are not associated with the University of Minnesota, according to the UMPD.

Investigators at the scene conducted interviews and are following up on leads. No suspects are currently in custody.
