Following the filing of an unfair election practices charge against the University of Minnesota, the Minnesota Bureau of Mediation Services announced the procedure for handling the allegations.
The Graduate Student Workers United/United Auto Workers have until April 23 to provide evidence to the Minnesota Bureau of Mediation Services that alleged discriminatory actions by the University affected the outcome of the election to unionize graduate student workers. The University of Minnesota must respond in writing by May 3, according to MPR News.
BMS will decide if a hearing is necessary. If so, it will be scheduled in May.
The union was voted down in late March by about 62 percent of graduate student employees who cast ballots.
