Another transition is underway in our Stadium Village neighborhood and longstanding and beloved establishments will soon be missing from our University of Minnesota community.
The Big 10 restaurant, a favorite of so many of our students, faculty and staff for more than 60 years, and its neighbor, the Village Wok, a campus institution for more than 40 years, will soon be closing their doors. So, too, will the unique Espresso Expose, a caffeine oasis for the past 25 years, and Bun Mi Sandwiches.
As a student back in the ’80s and today, I, along with thousands of other University community members, have enjoyed visiting these special places.
Thank you to all of the owners and workers of these establishments who have brought superb service, gastronomic satisfaction and lasting memories to so many of us. We’ll miss you, but hope to see some of you in new spaces on or around campus before too long.
Eric W. Kaler
President, University of Minnesota
