Two Duluth bicyclists returned home Sunday, completing a 5,300 mile journey around the Great Lakes, according to the Duluth News Tribune.
Kris McNeal and Zach Chase, ages 26 and 25, respectively, completed their ride in 97 days, circumnavigating the entire Great Lakes system and the St. Lawrence Seaway, the Tribune reported.
The pair typically logged around 60 to 70 miles a day and covered 104 miles on their biggest day. The trip had several challenges, including 15 flat tires, a fall by McNeal two days in, frostbitten toes and high-speed traffic, according to the Tribune.
They shot video of the entire trip and plan to produce a documentary, hoping to inspire others and give people a new respect for the Great Lakes, the Tribune reported.
