A complaint outlining allegations against Minneapolis police and asking the U.S. Department of Justice to investigate police practices was filed yesterday.
The request asks for a federal investigation of use of unconstitutional force by police, discriminatory policies and intimidating witnesses, among other complaints.
The Community Negotiating Team, which is composed of representatives from local ethnic communities and civil rights attorneys, filed the complaint with the Special Litigation Section of the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice.
The complaint says Minneapolis police have engaged in patterns and practices of civil rights violations and attempts to mediate have been unsuccessful.
