A vehicle was involved in a hit-and-run after being stolen from outside a University of Minnesota student’s apartment in Southeast Como, according to a Minneapolis police report.
Laura Billiar, a College of Science and Engineering student, said she parked her parent’s car on Cole Avenue Southeast on Friday night and it wasn’t there the next morning.
Billiar said she called the police, but they didn’t have any information on the theft. They later called to tell her the car had hit a pole.
Billiar said she hasn’t seen the damage to her car yet.
Billiar said she was using the car to move Friday. She hadn’t given anyone else permission to use the vehicle and still had her keys with her at the time of the theft, the report said.
Minneapolis police have recorded 14 vehicle thefts in Southeast Como for the first seven months of the year.
