Former Gophers pitcher Cole De Vries will start the second game of the Minnesota Twins' doubleheader against Kansas City on Saturday.
This is the second time the Eden Prairie native is being called up to the big leagues. His first stint lasted three games, as he went 1-1 with a 4.20 ERA.
Saturday's matchup against the Royals will be his second game at Target Field and fourth career start with the Twins.
On Monday, his most recent game with the Twins-AAA club, the Rochester Red Wings, De Vries threw eight innings, allowing six hits and two earned runs in a winning effort.
