The Gophers women's gymnastics team will head to Gainesville, Fla., for its NCAA Regional competition April 6, the NCAA announced Monday. The Gophers are the No. 2 seed in their regional behind the top-ranked team in the country, the University of Florida.
Minnesota has to finish in the top-2 to advance to the NCAA Championships in Los Angeles April 19-21. A total of 36 teams made the NCAA tournament, with six teams competing in six regionals.
Joining No. 12 Minnesota at the regional will be No. 1 Florida, No. 12 Auburn (tie), No. 24 Maryland, Bridgeport and Pittsburgh.
Minnesota competed at Florida earlier this season, scoring a season-best road score of 197.175. In that meet, Minnesota had season-best scores on vault, floor exercise and balance beam.
