The Gophers will try to break a seven-game losing streak when they host Indiana at Jane Sage Cowles Stadium.
Final – In the seventh, Skrove hit a one-out single but didn’t advance from there after Dorle popped out and junior pinch hitter Natalie Neal struck out swinging. INDIANA 1, GOPHERS 0.
Top 6th – Ritchison led off the inning with a ball that sat in the dirt in front of home plate for a single. Glueckert hit a grounder that nearly reached the wall in right-center field. Koch escaped the jam by getting three ground balls hit to Davis at shortstop. INDIANA 1, GOPHERS 0.
Bottom 5th – The Gophers’ best scoring chance came via Mitchell’s one-out single and a bunt that moved pinch runner Kelsey Klucas into scoring position. Barnes tapped back to Olson, however, to keep the game scoreless.
Top 5th – Koch made it within one out of five no-hit innings before facing her toughest jam. She walked Olson on eight pitches, and Stander singled to center for the Hoosiers’ first hit, but Koch got Saucedo to ground out to Davis to end the inning with no runs scored.
Top 3rd – Koch has set down seven in a row, including the last four on groundouts. Olson has allowed one hit through two scoreless innings.
Longtime public-address announcer Rick Benson was inducted into the Gophers softball Hall of Fame. According to an athletic department release, Benson has announced games since 1982.
