Men’s tennis
Minnesota (7-1) will face a trio of ranked tennis opponents this weekend in Texas. The Gophers moved up two spots to No. 13 in the latest ITA national rankings. Minnesota will meet No. 35 Rice on Thursday, No. 4 Baylor on Saturday and No. 16 Texas on Sunday.
This weekend, senior Thomas Haug is scheduled to battle the nation’s top-ranked singles player, Benedikt Dorsch of Baylor. The two met earlier this season with Dorsch prevailing in three sets. Dorsch is 30-2 this year and also needed three sets to beat the Gophers’ Chris Wettengel earlier this season.
Haug has had success against ranked opponents as he defeated then-No. 4 Jesse Witten three weeks ago in Minnesota’s 6-1 win vs. Kentucky.
