Funk at the Fred
If you’re new to the campus, here’s a little secret: The Twin Cities have a large hip-hop scene, and a good one at that. For those who have been around here a bit longer, this is old news, but the three hip-hop acts performing at this year’s annual Funk at the Fred are some of the best up-and-comers. Catch ’em while they’re hot!

Café Scientifique
In the coffeehouses and salons of the Enlightenment, learned people gathered to share their knowledge on diverse topics, from art and music to science and politics. This fall, the Bell Museum of Natural History is sponsoring a series of lectures that seek to bring science back to the tables of the coffeeshop. The first lecture is on the topic “Science and sex appeal in the Serengeti.”
