The Atlanta Falcons signed former Gophers linebacker Jack Lynn, the NFL team announced on Twitter Monday.

“It wasn’t much of a process,” Lynn said. “The agent called and said, ‘you’re signed with the Falcons,’ and I started playing the next day.”

Lynn will be joining two former Minnesota teammates in Atlanta — defensive lineman Ra’Shede Hageman and linebacker De’Vondre Campbell. Hageman, drafted by the Falcons in the second round in 2014, was teammates with Lynn on the Gophers for two seasons while Campbell, drafted by the Falcons in the fourth round in 2016, was with Lynn for three seasons.

Lynn, one of the football team’s captains in 2016, played in 42 games and started in 28 across his five years with the Gophers. After redshirting his freshman year, Lynn totaled 215 tackles and three sacks in his career.

Former Gophers cornerback Jalen Myrick was the lone NFL draft pick in April for the Gophers this year, getting selected in the seventh round by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

After the draft, three other former Gophers from the 2016 team signed with NFL teams. Defensive end Hank Ekpe signed with the Chicago Bears, tackle Jonah Pirsig signed with the Tennessee Titans and safety Damarius Travis signed with the New England Patriots.

Lynn made the Atlanta Falcons’ initial 90-man summer roster, but the team will need to cut down to 53 players by the start of the 2017-18 season in the fall.

“The mindset is to get back to working, hunker down, and be the best player I can be,” Lynn said.
