Last weekend was quiet at the University of Minnesota.
It tied for the fewest incidents at TCF Bank Stadium ever, according to University of Minnesota police Deputy Chief Chuck Miner.
Police only responded to one “disorderly” call at TCF Bank Stadium during Saturday’s football game against Michigan, he said.
Low attendance at the game played a significant role in keeping those numbers down, he said.
“I would say most of the partying occurred the weekend before Halloween,” Miner said.
Riot avoided after Mesa arrest
About 50 people at Mesa Pizza early Sunday morning began yelling as if they were going to riot, according to a Minneapolis police report.
The response was prompted by the actions of a Mound, Minn., man who was arrested after he refused to leave the restaurant, the report said.
The man, who isn’t a University student, was kicked out of Mesa four times by the bouncer working there, the report said. When police arrived at the scene, they saw the bouncer pushing the man after he refused to leave the restaurant.
The bouncer then asked the officers to arrest the man he was holding back, the report said.
The officers asked the man where he lived so they could transport him home, but he refused, saying he didn’t have to listen to the police or the bouncer, the report said.
The man was so intoxicated that he couldn’t stand up without swaying, according to the report.
The officers decided that the man would likely continue his “criminal conduct” and arrested him on suspicion of disorderly conduct, the report said. He was taken to Hennepin County Jail for the night.
