International soccer is coming to the University of Minnesota, the athletics department announced Thursday.
The English team Manchester City and the Greek team Olympiacos will play at 2 p.m. on Aug. 2 at TCF Bank Stadium as part of the Guinness International Championships Cub. Fox Sports 2 will broadcast the match internationally.
The round-robin tournament features eight international soccer clubs, including AC Milan, Manchester United and Real Madrid. The tournament runs from July 24 through Aug. 4.
Manchester City plays in the 20-team Barclays Premier League, more commonly know as the English Premier League, and is currently third in the standings. Olympiacos is in first place in the top Greek league, Superleague Greece.
Public ticket sales begin at 10 a.m. Saturday through the Maruicci Arena ticket office.
