Police say two people — one of whom was a University student — were robbed and assaulted near the University of Minnesota campus Saturday night.
The victims were walking along Washington Avenue near Ontario Street Southeast at about 11 p.m. when two suspects assaulted a male victim and one assaulted a female victim, according to a campus crime alert emailed to University students, faculty members and staff.
The suspects took a backpack and a cellphone before fleeing down Ontario Street Southeast. Neither victim was seriously injured, according to the alert.
Robbery on West Bank
A man was robbed and assaulted near the University of Minnesota’s West Bank early Tuesday morning.
The victim, who is not affiliated with the University, was walking near the Barbara Barker Center for Dance just before 3 a.m. when he was confronted by three men exiting an SUV who demanded his valuables, according to a University crime alert.
After the victim refused, he was assaulted by the men, who took his backpack. When the victim chased the suspects, a fourth man exited the SUV and punched the victim again, according to the alert.
The victim was not seriously injured. University of Minnesota Police are investigating the crime.
