Minnesota beat Sacramento State 2-1 and 5-3. The Gophers dropped the second game of the series 6-2. Friday, starting pitcher Alec Crawford gave up one unearned run in six innings to pick up the win. Dalton Sawyer followed him, giving up no hits or runs and picked up a three-inning save. Sunday, the Gophers scored three runs in the tenth inning to beat the Hornets.
Freshmen Toby Anderson and Cody Campbell both made their first-career starts in the team's series against Saint Mary's. Minnesota scored 27 runs in the two wins against the Gaels.
The Gophers will begin Big Ten play this weekend against Northwestern. The series was originally scheduled to be played in Evanston, Ill., but weather conditions forced the series to St. Charles, Mo. The Gophers will play a doubleheader on Saturday and finish the series Sunday.
