WCCO reports a 52 year old man was crushed by a support beam at the Mall of America parking ramp on Friday.

He had been driving a U-Haul truck and, the report said, and "appears to have misjudged the size of the truck as it enters the ramp." He crashed into the beam, and part of it fell trapping him in the cab of the truck. 

Police say two others had also been trapped in the truck for a time, but managed to escape without life-threatening injuries. 

The WCCO report said that one witness from the scene had tried to help the man, but could not. 

"He didn't want me to leave him, but I was trying to get him out," the witness said.
