Three robbers attempted to steal a person’s phone just before 3 p.m. on Friday in Dinkytown, according to a SAFE-U alert sent to students — the second alert of the day.

The suspects are only described in the alert as being between 18 and 20 years old. The incident occurred on the corner of Seventh Street Southeast and 12th Avenue Southeast, just north of the University of Minnesota campus. The case is in the hands of the Minneapolis Police Department.

The first alert, which was sent out just before noon, also involved a robbery where the victim was punched and had a bag of groceries stolen. This robbery happened Thursday evening and was east of campus in Stadium Village.

This is the fourth alert sent to students this month, all involving robberies.

This is a breaking news report. More information will be added as it becomes available.
