Blaise Andries, the top 2017 football recruit in Minnesota, committed to the Gophers before the team’s spring game on Saturday.
Andries, an offensive lineman from Marshall, announced his decision over Twitter. The Gophers also secured the top in-state recruit in last year’s class in linebacker Carter Coughlin. Coughlin committed to the team on March 12, 2015.
Andries is the first commitment of the Gophers 2017 recruiting class. He is listed as 6-feet-5-inches and 290 pounds and had offers from Texas Christian University, Oregon, Michigan State, Oklahoma, and Arkansas among others.
He is the highest rated Gophers offensive line commitment since Connor Mayes in 2014, according to Scout.com.
