A bullet wounded a 6-year-old girl Wednesday morning on the West Bank as she waited for her school bus in the entryway to her apartment building.
The incident occurred at the Riverside Plaza apartment complex in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood, according to multiple media reports.
Minneapolis police said they are investigating the incident, which occurred shortly after 8 a.m.
Police said they believe a gun slipped from a person’s waistband and down his or her pants, causing a bullet to discharge and graze the girl’s leg. Security cameras recorded the person entering the building.
Hennepin County Medical Center treated the girl for a minor injury.
The family notified police of the incident about 30 minutes after the shooting, police said.
No one has been arrested in the case.
