University of Minnesota police sent an email crime alert on Friday describing a robbery that happened on the West Bank. The victim of the robbery was not a University student.
According to the alert, the victim noticed three men following him while he crossed the street on Thursday around 8:30 p.m. near the intersection of 20th Avenue South and Riverside Avenue. One of the men punched the victim, the alert said. The other two were holding a knife and a black semi-automatic handgun.
The men took the victim’s wallet and cell phone and left the area, leaving the man slightly injured. Though police searched the area, the alert said, they were unable to locate the suspects.
This is the fifth alert sent for five crimes so far this semester. Last semester, University police sent 16 crime alerts for 22 crimes.
