Timothy Schumacher, a University of Minnesota first-year, said heâÄôs ready to focus on school again. The victim of the Jan. 25 shooting outside Centennial Hall returned to his classes this week. He said police escorted him around campus Monday, but now heâÄôs on his own and âÄúdoing fine.âÄù âÄúI feel like everyone else is more worried than I am at this point,âÄù he said. Schumacher was shot outside the residence hall while he was walking back late from the Recreation Center. Police have said they believe the seemingly random shooting was part of a series of crimes committed that evening, including a robbery and an attempted robbery by Moos Tower. The bullet was too close to SchumacherâÄôs spine to remove during surgery, but he is able to walk. Police have identified two suspects as black males between 18 and 20 years old. They are described as being about 5 feet 8 inches tall, with light builds.
