Mens gymnastics tops No. 10 Nebraska at Sports Pavilion

Minnesotaís menís gymnastics team defeated No. 10 Nebraska by a score of 204.150-202.900 Saturday at the Sports Pavilion.

The ninth-ranked Gophers used their best score of the year in the horizontal bar ó the last event of the evening ó to overcome a deficit and beat the Huskers.

Minnesota was led by junior Jacob Lee, who won the all-around competition with a score of 52.150. It was his fourth all-around win of the season.

Softball splits in N.C.

Minnesotaís softball team split four games this past weekend at the Triangle Classic in Chapel Hill, N.C.

The Gophers (2-6) split a doubleheader Sunday, beating Akron 1-0 before falling to Toledo by a score of 5-1. Against Akron, junior Mandy Valadez and freshman Katie Dalen combined on a one-hit shutout.

In the game against Toledo, the Gophers fell behind 3-0 after one inning and were never able to get back in the contest.

Minnesota picked up its first win of the year Friday with a six-inning 10-2 win over Toledo. The Gophers dropped their tournament-opening game Friday, losing 7-1 to Coastal Carolina.

Tennis split at Baseline

Minnesotaís womenís tennis team split a pair of dual meets at the Baseline Tennis Center this past weekend.

The Gophers (2-4, 0-1 Big Ten) picked up their second win of the year Sunday against Dartmouth. Minnesota split the singles matches but took the doubles point to earn the 4-3 win. Winners in singles for the Gophers were Nischela Reddy, Ida Malmberg and Danielle Mosseau.

Minnesota dropped its Big Ten opener by a score of 4-3 on Friday to No. 47 Iowa. The teams split the six singles matches Friday, Minnesota receiving wins from Reddy, Malmberg and Marina Bugaenco. The Hawkeyes took the doubles point, earning the decisive point.
