Two people were robbed early Thursday morning near Dinkytown near the intersection of 8th Street Southeast and 14th Avenue Southeast, according to a crime alert sent by University of Minnesota police Chief Greg Hestness.
One of the two victims is a University student. Both were unharmed but had their purses and a cell phone taken.
The suspect emerged from bushes near a house and demanded the two victims’ valuables as they walked northbound on 14th Avenue Southeast, the alert said.
The suspect implied he had a gun, but never showed it, according to the alert.
After taking the victims’ valuables, the suspect fled west on 8th Street Southeast.
The suspect description included few details.
Police searched the area but were unable to find the suspect.
