The sentencing date for a man accused of shooting and killing a 25-year-old Minneapolis man last October in Stadium Village was reset Monday.
Vilaysack Sirimanothay will be sentenced Aug. 19. He pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in April with a plea agreement of a 12-year prison sentence.
But on July 12, when Sirimanothay appeared before Judge Lloyd Zimmerman for sentencing, the judge did not accept his plea agreement.
According to court officials, the case went to another judge on Monday, and among Judge Steven Lange, Sirimanothay’s lawyer, and Stuart Shapiro, the prosecuting attorney for Hennepin County, they offered a plea of approximately 12 years.
Investigators allege Sirimanothay shot and killed Edward Rajual Howard Reynolds, 25, of Minneapolis.
The co-defendant is Saroun Sareth, who also pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to nine years and seven months in prison on July 13.
Sareth is believed to be the suspect who drove the car to and from the shooting.
