Following a three point weekend in the home sweep of Colorado College, defenseman Nick Leddy has been named the Western Collegiate Hockey Association’s Rookie of the Week.
This is the first WCHA rookie of the week award given to Leddy this season, an award Minnesota has dominated as of late.
Along with fellow freshman Zach Budish, the Gophers have had a freshman named WCHA rookie of the week three of the previous five weekends.
After missing nine games with a broken jaw, Leddy has started to heat up as of late, tallying eight points in the last 12 games. On the season the defenseman has nine points coming by way of two goals and seven assists.
