The University of Minnesota has announced that the Twin Cities campus will close at 1 p.m. today and campus events starting after that time will be cancelled due to a snowstorm that has already dumped half a foot of snow. Gophers men's and women's hockey games have been postponed until Sunday (the men will play Minnesota-Duluth at 4 p.m., the women's game has not yet been rescheduled). The Men's basketball game against Eastern Kentucky will be played as scheduled. The cancellation message, which appeared on the University's website, in an e-mail message and in a TXT-U message, reads as follows: "The Twin Cities Campus of the University of Minnesota will be closing at 1 p.m. today, due to winter weather. All events scheduled to start at 1 p.m. or after are canceled or will be postponed. Sunday events are still scheduled to go on as planned, but check www.umn.edu for updates."
