Police arrested a man in the Southeast Como Neighborhood early this week after he stabbed a man after he had used meth, according to a Hennepin County complaint.
Darrin Niccolas Kirk, 36, of Minneapolis, was arrested on a charge of second-degree assault on Monday morning after police found him naked walking on Como Avenue between Southeast 15th and 16th Avenues.
Kirk allegedly stabbed a man in the head, according to the report. The victim accepted the offer to sleep on Kirk’s couch earlier that evening.
According to the complaint, Kirk was pacing around the apartment at 3:45 a.m., saying “you [expletive] your mother. I gave her to you as a gift but you [expletive] her. You’re evil and you must pay.”
The victim barricaded himself in the bathroom, which Kirk broke through holding a silver pocket knife. The victim tried to escape through the door, but Kirk stabbed him in the head and neck before the man managed to unlock the door and run into the street.
Kirk pursued him down 15th Avenue, where a bus driver saw the bloodied victim waving his arms yelling “please help me, he’s got a knife and he’s trying to stab me.”
The driver let the victim on board, closing the door on Kirk’s arm. Eventually he pulled his arm out and the bus left.
Afterward the victim had his wounds treated at the hospital.
