Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak announced yesterday that he is running for re-election. The announcement came in the form of a message via Twitter directing visitors to a YouTube video . So far, Rybak will be facing Bob Miller, director of the city’s Neighborhood Revitalization Program, for the position. No other candidates have been announced yet.
However, Rybak is still not ruling out a run for governor, according to MPR.
Rybak told MPR that he will have to make difficult decisions during his campaign for re-election.
“It’s going to be a tough few months. No doubt about it. But I’m not alone,” Rybak told MPR. “I think everyone in America right now, whether they’re in government or in business, is facing some tough challenges. The difference for me is, I get to be in a job I love in a city I love.” In the next few weeks, Rybak says he will work on four themes for his campaign, including promoting safe neighborhoods, creating jobs and building transit.
