The Minneapolis Police Department responded to multiple reports of burglary and theft in an otherwise quiet week for crime around campus.
Officers responded to a theft report that occurred Thursday around 6 p.m. A University graduate research assistant told MPD the suspects, who were gone upon police arrival, stole various items off of her while at she was at her house on the 700 block of 12th Avenue SE. Item descriptions were unavailable, and officers are investigating the incident.
A home on the 1100 block of 21st Avenue SE was reportedly burglarized sometime between 1 a.m. and 10 a.m. last Monday. The 32-year-old homeowner told MPD his bike worth $1,000 was stolen. Officers are investigating the incident.
MPD responded to a report of an auto theft that occurred Wednesday between 2:10 a.m. and 2:15 a.m. The victim told police his car was stolen while parked near Royal Cigar Tobacco in Dinkytown. He did not provide suspect information.
On Thursday around 12:30 p.m., MPD responded to a complaint of a man hiding from police on the 100 block of 4th Street SE. Upon arrival, the man approached the officers and said he was not wanted by police and freely provided his name. The 44-year-old man was found to have a warrant after failing to register as a sex offender and was booked at Hennepin County Jail.
A 20-year-old was cited for littering, owning drug paraphernalia and having marijuana in his car last Monday around 8:00 p.m. MPD issued citations for the offenses while at the intersection of 6th Avenue SE and Main Street SE.
