Downtown Minneapolis’ 20 largest employers shed 3,335 jobs since February 2008, according to the Minneapolis St. Paul Business Journal.
At its annual meeting Wednesday, the Minneapolis Downtown Council announced that total employment among the top 20 companies is down to 47,734 jobs, or 6.9 percent decline.
Target Corp. shed the most jobs over the last year, reaching the top of the list with 10,000 downtown workers.
The rest come in as follows:
Wells Fargo & Co. – 7,180 jobs
Hennepin County – 5250 jobs
Ameriprise Financial Inc. – 5,100 jobs
U.S. Bancorp – 2,894 jobs
The city of Minneapolis just barely missed the top five with 2,784 layoffs.
