Minnesota might end up with a bona fide comedian in the U.S. Senate… but it sounds like we might have one there already.
Sen. Amy Klobuchar was a speaker, and resident comedian, at the Washington Press Club Foundation’s dinner Wednesday night, a gathering of politicians and journalists in Washington D.C. And as it turns out, Klobuchar wasn’t afraid to ruffle some feathers in a sweeping monologue taking shots at virtually everybody in the nation’s Capitol.
And, as Google News can attest, Klobuchar’s jokes are the talk of the nation’s media, from Politico.com to the Washington Post.
While the comedy might be a little over the head of anything less than a political junkie, Klobuchar kept it classy in a roast of everything Washington.
Some of the jokes from her set:
-I really, really, really have a very simple goal [for this speech]— and that is to keep it as short as Bill Richardson’s tenure as Commerce Secretary.
-I am a woman whose hair will never have the bounce and fluff of Rod Blagojevich’s.
-I’m from Minnesota and I was placed on the subcommittee on Oceans! It’s like being from Illinois, Rahm Emmanuel, and being placed on Ethics.
