Two members of Minnesota's 14th-ranked softball team were named as finalists for the 2014 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award Wednesday afternoon. The players are senior pitcher Sara Moulton and junior infielder Kaitlyn Richardson, who have led the Gophers to one of the best seasons in program history.
Moulton is having an excellent senior season after being named to the All-Big Ten first team her junior year. The pitcher's ten shutouts lead the nation.
Richardson, on the other hand, has found her success at the plate. She is batting .463 and her 37 RBIs are second-most in the conference, per Gophersports.
The award-winner will be announced at the opening of the 2014 Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City.
