Third-year medical student Alan Michael Scott withdrew from the University Medical School Tuesday, a day after he pleaded guilty in Hennepin County District Court to molesting a minor.
Scott, 26, a former Boy Scout troop leader, pleaded guilty to one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct Monday, admitting he had sexual contact with a minor in his troop.
The former student initially faced three charges alleging inappropriate sexual conduct with the minor between 1995 and 1997. In return for the guilty plea, the remaining two charges were dropped.
Three other people planned to testify that Scott molested them; while their testimony was never heard, more charges could be filed if further evidence arises.
Scott could not be reached for comment.
Scott will face sentencing on Dec. 31, with a possible maximum sentence of one year in a non-prison facility.
Medical School officials declined to comment on Scott’s departure.
